LONGSHORE – ROCKHOUND 345 KV TRANSMISSION LINE PROJECT

For Oncor to continue to provide safe and reliable electric service in this area, a new transmission line is needed. Oncor is proposing to construct a new 345 kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Oncor’s existing Longshore Switch, located approximately 2.5 miles west of the intersection of United States Highway 87 and Farm-to-Market Road 461 in Howard County, Texas, and its existing Rockhound Switch, located approximately 2 miles southwest of the intersection of Interstate 20 and Farm-to-Market Road 829 in Midland County, Texas. The Proposed Transmission Line Project is currently planned for completion in summer 2030.

 

Voltage and Structure Type – The project includes a new 345 kV double-circuit transmission line constructed on self-supporting, monopole towers.
