IMPROVING SERVICE IN THORNDALE, TEXAS

Oncor recognizes the importance of reliable electric service for customers in Thorndale. Oncor crews are currently working on an infrastructure improvement project along N 3rd Street, Moerbe Street and FM 486 N. The project will upgrade an existing power line to help support future growth in the area while enhancing overall system reliability.

Work began in early July and is expected to continue for approximately six weeks, weather permitting. To help complete the project as efficiently as possible, crews are scheduled to work seven days a week throughout construction.

The infrastructure upgrades will provide additional electric capacity and operational flexibility for the community.

Since work is spread across a long corridor, there may be periods when customers do not see crews working near their specific location. This does not mean the project is complete; crews may be working in another section of the project area before returning.

Here’s what to expect as our efforts progress:

ROAD CLOSURES AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Customers should expect to see construction activity and traffic control measures throughout the duration of the project.

Current impacts include:

  • Temporary lane closures in certain work areas.
  • Traffic control personnel and signage to help direct vehicles safely through construction zones.
  • Increased presence of construction vehicles and utility equipment in neighborhoods and along roadways.

Crews have been instructed to minimize disruptions whenever possible, including avoiding blocked driveways and maintaining access for residents.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution, reduce speeds near work zones and follow all posted traffic control directions.

PLANNED OUTAGES

At this time, regular planned outages are not anticipated as part of the project.

For the safety of employees and the public, temporary safety settings will be in place on the electric system while crews are working on the lines. These protective measures may result in:

  • Brief power blinks or momentary interruptions.
  • Short-duration outages lasting only a few minutes if system conditions require protective equipment to operate.

If any planned outages become necessary during construction, affected customers will be notified in advance through MyOncor Alerts. Text REG to 66267 to sign up for MyOncor Alerts.

VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

Oncor’s vegetation management program helps reduce vegetation-related hazards that could lead to outages and hazards. This work includes strategic tree trimming and necessary tree removals in hazardous areas, near planned upgrades within our easements and right of way, to help protect service reliability. Maintaining proper clearance between trees and energized power lines also supports the safety of the public, and our employees and contractors. For more information, visit Oncor.com/Trees

INSPECTIONS

Oncor regularly conducts proactive assessments of our infrastructure to continue providing safe, reliable electricity. This critical work includes multiple forms of inspections, such as the use of drones to capture aerial images of power lines and electrical equipment, as well as in-person evaluations of our utility poles. Visit Oncor.com/Inspections for more information.

CONTACT INFORMATION

Customers are encouraged to report outages they may experience during this time, as not all outages may be related to these service improvements.
