To continue to provide safe and reliable electric service in this area, Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (Oncor) and Rayburn County Electric Cooperative, Inc. (REC) are proposing to construct a single-circuit, double-circuit capable, 138 kV transmission line in Van Zandt County, between REC’s existing Canton Substation, located on the east side of State Highway (SH) 19 approximately 0.35 mile south of the Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 1651 intersection, and Oncor’s proposed Alder Switch, to be located along Oncor’s existing Canton Switch to Explorer Pipeline 138-kV transmission line approximately 0.30 mile east of SH 198 and 0.90 mile south of FM 3227. The Proposed Transmission Line Project is currently planned for completion in Fall 2026.
Voltage and Structure Type – The project includes a new 138 kV Single Circuit Transmission Line, approximately 5 miles in length. The structure will be constructed on self-supporting monopole structures.
