For Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (“Oncor”) to continue to provide safe and reliable electric service in the area, it proposes to construct a new, double-circuit 345 kV transmission line to be built on double-circuit steel lattice tower structures, between Oncor’s planned Border Switch in Loving County and Oncor’s existing Clearfork Switch in Andrews County, Texas. Oncor’s planned Border Switch will be located approximately 6 miles south of the Texas-New Mexico border and 7 miles southeast of the intersection of Ranch-to-Market (“RM”) 652 and County Road (“CR”) 300. Oncor’s existing Clearfork Switch is located approximately 2 miles southwest of the intersection of State Highway (“SH”) 115 and Farm-to-Market Road (“FM”) 181. The length of the Proposed Transmission Line Project is approximately 58.2 to 77.4 miles, depending on which route is selected by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (“PUC” or “Commission”). The Proposed Transmission Line Project is currently planned for completion in 2028.
Voltage and Structure Type – The project includes a new double-circuit capable 345 kV transmission line constructed on self-supporting, steel lattice towers.
Public Meeting – Notice of public meeting was published in the Pecos Enterprise and The Monahans Newspapers on January 30, 2025 and the Andrews County News on January 31, 2025. Application Filing – On May 29, 2025, Oncor filed an Application at the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) under Docket No. 58126 to construct and operate the proposed project. Click here for access to the docket on the PUCT Interchange.
