DELIVERING THE ENERGY THAT POWERS TEXAS

  • Power Generation

    Power Generation

In Texas, energy is generated from a diverse mix of sources, including natural gas, wind, solar, coal, nuclear power and more. While Oncor does not generate power for use on the electric grid, the power lines and electric infrastructure we maintain helps deliver this power to our customers.

  • Transmission & Distribution

    Transmission & Distribution

Oncor is a regulated transmission and distribution utility. Our electric network delivers electricity from power generation facilities to customers through transmission and distribution lines. The transmission network transfers electricity to substations over multiple paths and across long distances. The distribution network then delivers electricity from substations to homes and businesses.

  • Retail Electric Providers

    Retail Electric Providers

In most parts of Texas, you choose your Retail Electric Provider (REP), the company you pay for electricity. REPs set your rates and offer various plans. Oncor doesn’t sell power, set your plan or send monthly electric bills. While you can choose your REP, your address determines which transmission and distribution utility, like Oncor, delivers power.

MEETING TEXAS' ENERGY DEMANDS TODAY AND TOMORROW

We’ve been serving Texans since 1912, and we’re just getting started.

Oncor began more than a century ago, laying the first power lines to light up Texas towns. Since then, the world has changed, but our mission hasn’t. We’re still here to keep the power flowing and support the people who depend on us. In short, we help empower modern life and all the ways our customers plug into it.

Meeting that responsibility takes more than infrastructure — it takes collaboration. We work closely with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to align our growth with the state’s needs and ensure the grid can support the future we all share.

Wired for Innovation

Wired for Innovation

We consistently invest in and utilize state-of-the-art infrastructure and advanced technologies to create a safer, smarter, more reliable power grid.

From predictive analytics that help identify problem areas and prevent outages before they happen, drone technologies that analyze thousands of miles of power lines each year, and modern automation that speeds up restoration, we build systems that adapt and endure.
