Here’s what to expect as our efforts progress:

Road Closures – Oncor sometimes closes roads and/or lanes temporarily so our crews can safely access areas where critical work is needed. We recognize road closures are inconvenient, so we aim to complete our work and fully re-open closures as quickly and safely as possible.

Vegetation Management – Oncor regularly trims trees and removes debris near our power lines to reduce the risk of outages and enhance the resiliency of our system. Our Vegetation Management team includes certified arborists and other highly trained professionals who complete their work in accordance with laws, regulations, and Oncor’s standards. For more information, visit Oncor.com/Trees. To learn whether planned tree trimming will occur in your area soon, click here.

Inspections – Oncor regularly conducts proactive assessments of our infrastructure to continue providing safe, reliable electricity. This critical work includes multiple forms of inspections, such as the use of drones to capture aerial images of power lines and electrical equipment, as well as in-person evaluations of our utility poles. Visit Oncor.com/Inspections for more information.

Planned Outages – Sometimes, Oncor must temporarily disconnect power work can be safely completed. We recognize that it is challenging to be without electricity, so we work as quickly and safely as possible to minimize any potential impacts that these planned, temporary outages may have on our customers. Advance notice is provided to customers who we expect to be impacted by a planned outage.

While upgrades are primarily performed while power lines are energized, please be advised that unplanned outages may be possible as work is being performed. This is due to the use of highly sensitive protective devices that are set to de-energize the lines should they detect a potential electrical contact or safety risk to workers. Should this occur, personnel will work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Oncor will make every effort to minimize this potential outage risk throughout the scope of this work.
