Within the next three years, we aim to complete major upgrades to our infrastructure that will strengthen our system, reduce outage risks, and ensure long-term service reliability for Collin County.

IMPROVING SERVICE IN PRINCETON, TEXAS

As part of Oncor’s commitment to providing safe and reliable power, service reliability improvements in Princeton are underway. Beginning the week of August 24, 2026, Oncor will be performing construction work in and around Princeton - including installing new electric poles and wires, replacing existing poles, and installing upgraded equipment to help reduce outage impacts.

Customers may see Oncor crews and trucks in the area while this work is being completed. Please slow down when approaching work zones and give crews room to safely work. This work is part of a multi-phase effort to strengthen the local electric system, improve resiliency during storms and help reduce the risk of outages.

OVERHEAD POWER LINES

Oncor contractors will install approximately six miles of new overhead power lines. New overhead distribution lines will create additional pathways for electricity to flow throughout the area. This added infrastructure supports new developments and provides greater flexibility during outages.

UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC INFRASTRUCTURE

Approximately two miles of new underground electric infrastructure will be installed. New underground facilities and conductor installations will expand the local electric network and provide additional capacity to serve future residential, commercial and community growth.

POLE AND EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENTS

Replacing older poles and installing new structures strengthens the electric system and helps improve long-term reliability and resilience. New equipment will help improve service quality and reliability while ensuring the electric system can meet increasing demand across the area.

ROAD CLOSURES

Temporary road or lane closures may be necessary at times to allow crews to safely complete construction work.

These temporary road closures are necessary to allow crews to safely access areas where critical work is being performed.

For the safety of workers and residents, drivers approaching the work area are urged to follow posted signage and use extra caution when traveling through construction zones as roads are extremely narrow.

Oncor recognizes road closures are inconvenient and will work to fully reopen closures as quickly and safely as possible. Oncor appreciates the patience and understanding of our Princeton customers.

PLANNED OUTAGES

Sometimes, Oncor must temporarily disconnect power so work can be safely completed. We recognize that it is challenging to be without electricity, so we work as quickly and safely as possible to minimize any potential impacts that these planned, temporary outages may have on our customers. Advance notice is provided to customers who we expect to be impacted by a planned outage.

While upgrades are primarily performed while power lines are energized, please be advised that unplanned outages may be possible as work is being performed. This is due to the use of highly sensitive protective devices that are set to de-energize the lines should they detect a potential electrical contact or safety risk to workers. Should this occur, personnel will work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Oncor will make every effort to minimize this potential outage risk throughout the scope of this work.

IMPROVING SERVICE IN MCKINNEY, TEXAS

As part of Oncor’s commitment to providing safe and reliable power, service reliability improvements in McKinney are underway. This work is part of a multi-phase effort to strengthen the local electric system, improve resiliency during storms and help reduce the risk of outages. The project includes pole inspections, vegetation management and the replacement of poles and equipment that serve the area.

POLE INSPECTION

Oncor crews and contractors will inspect poles and related infrastructure to determine where replacements or upgrades are needed. These inspections help identify equipment that may need to be replaced as part of the broader reliability improvement effort. By evaluating existing facilities before construction begins, Oncor can better plan the work needed to improve system performance and resiliency.

VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

Vegetation management (tree pruning) and clearing right-of-way areas reduces the chances that branches contact lines during high wind or storm events.

Oncor vegetation management teams include professional certified arborists who follow industry standards while pruning trees or evaluating potentially dead, diseased or hazardous trees.

Vegetation work, including pruning or potential removals, may take place in areas that are being prepared for future reliability improvements, including replacing power poles and equipment. Work clearances between trees and energized power lines helps protect the safety of Oncor employees, contractors, and members of the public.

This project is also part of Oncor’s System Resiliency Plan (SRP). With this plan, Oncor is investing approximately $3 billion in the resiliency of its distribution system over the next several years. This will allow our system to better withstand and more quickly recover from a range of extreme weather and other events.

Project work is expected to continue in phases through January 2027, weather permitting.

IMPROVING SERVICE IN CELINA, TEXAS

Oncor recognizes that customers and businesses in Celina depend on reliable power, and we are dedicated to providing it. In October 2025, Oncor completed comprehensive electric infrastructure inspections in the town of Celina, Texas, and identified improvement areas for delivering more reliable service. In February 2026, Oncor is beginning a reliability improvement project that addresses inspection results, supports grid resiliency and service reliability in and around the city of Celina.

POLE REPLACEMENTS

The multi-phase project will include installing new and replacing a considerable number of electric poles and associated equipment and hardware. These pole replacements are a critical part of Oncor’s system resiliency and hardening efforts.

MODERN EQUIPMENT

Installing advanced fault sensing equipment at strategic locations helps identify the location of a problem on the power line and isolates the problem, restoring service to more customers safely and faster.

VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

Vegetation management (tree trimming) and clearing right-of-way areas reduces the chances that branches contact lines during high wind or storm events. Oncor tree trimming teams include professional certified arborists following a process that includes great care taken to prune trees and evaluate potentially dead, diseased or hazardous trees, according to industry standards. Additionally, vegetation management allows personnel and necessary equipment to safely access power lines before more extensive work can begin.

This project is also part of Oncor’s System Resiliency Plan (SRP). With this plan, Oncor is investing approximately $3 billion in the resiliency of its distribution system over the next several years. This will allow our system to better withstand and more quickly recover from a range of extreme weather and other events.

The majority of the project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026, weather permitting. Additional work to support the growth of Celina is expected, and Oncor will continue to partner with the City to meet the growing needs. Oncor regularly trims trees and removes debris near our power lines to reduce the risk of outages and enhance the resiliency of our system.
