*Haz clic aquí para leer en español* Oncor employees are continuing to work on restoring remaining customers as quickly and safely as possible. We recognize the challenges our customers have faced from being without power for an extended period of time and want to assure them that field resources and support staff are working around the clock to restore all remaining outages as soon as safely possible.

As restoration has been completed across our service area, additional resources have been relocated to the hardest hit areas to support ongoing efforts. Restoration is focused across the pockets of outages resulting from the most significant storm and wind damage. Remaining outages in areas of Fort Worth are expected to substantially restored Thursday morning; areas of Dallas County and the immediate surrounding cities are expected to be substantially restored Thursday night; and our eastern regions of Tyler and Lufkin are expected to be substantially Thursday tonight.

Report Your Power Outage

There are many ways customers can report a power outage, including by going to Stormcenter.Oncor.com.

Repairs to Customer Electric Equipment

If you are without power after a storm, begin by safely assessing the equipment that falls under the responsibility of the home or business owner. This includes:

-Weatherhead. This is usually a hood-shaped cap on a metal pipe that connects your home to the electric service lines.

-Electrical wiring in and around your home. This includes wires that connect the weatherhead to the electric meter and any wires leading from the electric meter.

-Meter base. This is the enclosure that houses the Oncor electric meter and it’s usually on the side of your house.

If this equipment has been damaged or pulled off, call Oncor at 888.313.6862 to initiate a temporary hazardous disconnect. You will then need to contact a licensed electrician to repair or replace the broken equipment.

Some areas require a city inspection once the work is completed before service can be restored, so be sure to check with your local authorities. Upon completion, the city will send Oncor confirmation that the work passed inspection. You should then call 888.313.6862 to request a reconnect after the temporary hazardous disconnect.

Oncor's Power Restoration Process

Restoration Work Continues Around the Clock

Oncor follows a systematic process to evaluate and restore power when severe weather strikes. Our restoration philosophy – to safely and quickly restore power to the greatest number of customers – along with improved technology helps us determine where to go and what to repair first.

While some restoration is able to completed by remotely or manually rerouting power through undamaged facilities, pre-positioned damage evaluators are also deployed to identify the locations and scope of damages. The information gathered by damage evaluators is used to most efficiently determine what specialized restoration teams, materials and resources are needed to make repairs and restore power, and to more accurately estimate how long that process may take. Watch this video for more information on how the restoration prioritization process typically works once repairs begin.

Keep Safety Top of Mind

Any power line on the ground, fence, car or another object could still be energized and therefore extremely dangerous. Stay clear of debris, nearby water or damaged electrical equipment. If you see a downed line, keep away, keep others and pets away and call 911 immediately. Click here to learn more.

To stay safe from Oncor scams, never give out personal information or make payments to anyone claiming to be from Oncor over the phone, text, email, or in person unless you have verified their identity by calling Oncor directly. Click here to learn more.

Portable generators can be a helpful tool to have ready in case of a power outage. However, they can be hazardous if not used correctly. Know how to use your generators safely and correctly, and what potential hazards to avoid. Click here to learn more.

Storm Debris

Safety for Oncor’s employees and customers is our top priority. As storm clean up continues, we also urge customers to be cautious and avoid debris near fallen power lines.

Oncor contractors will clear limbs and damaged trees that hit or threaten to impact our equipment. Oncor will also haul away the brush leftover as a result from our teams’ work. As power restoration remains our priority, debris removal and clean-up will most likely take place after restoration is complete.
