Mutual Assistance Teams Supporting Restoration Efforts

Oncor personnel have continued working throughout the day and have restored power to more than 95,000 customers since Friday night’s storms. As of Saturday afternoon, less than 30,000 customers are without power, from the peak of about 125,000. Restoration work is being supported by mutual assistance partners from across Texas and neighboring states, and will continue around the clock.

While significant progress has been made, Oncor recognizes the frustration and challenges faced by customers who are still without power and greatly appreciates their patience. As restoration is completed in certain locations, personnel are being routed to the nearest hardest hit areas to support ongoing efforts.

Oncor estimates all areas other than Tarrant and Johnson Counties to be restored before Sunday morning. Tarrant and Johnson Counties, which experienced the greatest weather and damage impacts, are expected to be substantially completed by Sunday evening.

As damage assessments are completed, responding personnel must often clear downed trees and debris blocking or tangled in equipment so repairs can be made, which can include rebuilding infrastructure, setting new power poles and hanging power lines.

If you see Oncor personnel or support staff working, please give them ample space to ensure the protection of yourself and our workers. However, keep in mind that the exact location of an outage impacting your home or business may not always be immediately visible from where you’re located. It’s possible there may be damage further up the lines that deliver power to the area where the outage is experienced, which is where personnel would be working.

Safety for employees and the public remains Oncor’s number one priority. Customers are urged to keep these important safety tips in mind:

  • As temperatures remain high, customers are encouraged to keep safety first by checking on neighbors and elderly or vulnerable residents, and to seek alternative shelter as needed.

  • If you see a downed power line, please stay away, keep pets and others away and call 911 immediately. In addition to the downed line potentially being energized, anything touching the power line, such as a tree branch, could also be energized.

  •  Do not attempt to remove debris and tree limbs from areas near power lines. The debris may be concealing a live wire or downed power line.

  • While prioritized during power restoration events, critical care designations do not guarantee an uninterrupted power supply, especially during severe weather. Customers who rely on electricity for life-saving medical devices should have a plan in place in case of power outages.

  • If you are experiencing an emergency event, call 911 immediately.

Customers can report outages and receive updates by registering for MyOncor text alerts by texting “REG” to 66267, downloading the MyOncor App, following Oncor on Facebook and Twitter, or by calling 888.313.4747.
