Customers encouraged to stay weatheraware and keep safety first

Oncor is closely monitoring the potential for significant severe weather on Sunday, June 8, across portions of our service area. Widespread, severe thunderstorms are expected to impact communities in North Texas from Sunday evening through late Sunday night.

The main threat is extreme, damaging thunderstorm winds, possibly in excess of 80 mph. Winds of this severity are capable of uprooting trees and blowing branches or debris into powerlines or equipment, and have the greatest potential for causing power outages.

Very large hail, frequent lightning and a few tornadoes are also possible. Additionally, heavy rain may lead to localized flooding. While the most elevated severe weather risk is for North Texas, strong thunderstorms may also impact communities in Central and East Texas late Sunday night through the pre-dawn hours of Monday June 9.

Oncor team members, contractors and vegetation management crews have been activated and are ready to respond to any necessary restoration work as soon as weather conditions safely allow.

Customers are urged to keep safety top of mind by monitoring local media for the latest weather conditions and having multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts. Before severe weather arrives, we also recommend customers secure loose outdoor items, such as patio furniture, lawn decor and trash cans, and review the Power Outage Safety Checklist and how to Stay Safe During a Tornado.

In case of an outage, customers can report it using one of the following methods:

Anyone who see a downed power line should stay away, keep others and pets away and call 911
