DALLAS, February 3, 2022 – Oncor personnel have made continuous progress restoring power to customers from the peak amount of 34,000 outages overnight Wednesday. As the storm moved across Oncor’s service area, additional outages have occurred throughout the day. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, approximately 18,000 outages remain – nearly 30 percent of which have occurred since 10 a.m.

A majority of those outages are in the Dallas metro area and adjacent north and northeast counties (12,500 out) and near the Red River (3,500 out). While these regions have continued to see the greatest weather impacts, personnel are still responding as outages occur across the service area.

We recognize the stresses and hardships our customers without power are facing, especially during this severe cold weather. Nearly 6,000 Oncor employees and contractors have been working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, and this work will continue around the clock. In addition, more than 1,700 out-of-state utility partners are also supporting restoration efforts.

Restoration is challenged by ongoing weather impacts and hazardous road conditions, which slows the arrival of crews and resources. Ice accumulation continues to pose the greatest impact to service, and new outages are possible as increasing weight pulls down trees and limbs.
