Twenty-six volunteer fire departments across 18 counties receive grants to enhance equipment and training

MIDLAND, TEXAS, November 6, 2025 – Oncor Cares Foundation is announcing its latest investment in Texas communities: $520,000 to support critical training and equipment for 26 volunteer fire departments across 18 counties in West, North and Central Texas. Oncor, the largest transmission and distribution utility in Texas, founded the Oncor Cares Foundation to help expand Oncor’s charitable giving and support for the communities it serves.

Spanning 18 counties, these volunteer departments were selected based on their volunteer status, community value and local conditions. Each volunteer department will receive an equal grant of $20,000 to be primarily focused on purchasing firefighting equipment, PPE, training, or other preparedness needs.

“At Oncor, we prioritize safety and support for our safety partners who serve Texas communities,” said Oncor Area Manager Gus Ortega. “We recognize the life-saving role our volunteer firefighters play and are honored to provide these departments with resources to secure additional equipment and training. We look forward to seeing the tangible benefits this investment brings to local families and businesses.”
