Oncor’s retail products program makes buying energy-efficient products a smart choice because of the discounts you can receive by being an Oncor customer. The discounts apply to ENERGY STAR products purchased from a participating retailer.

The program provides in-store, point-of-sale discounts on LED bulbs, night lights, advanced power strips and pipe insulation. Look for Oncor signage (see below) at the displays for these discounted products in the store.

Discounts up to $65 are available on 12 models of smart thermostats and up to $50 on washers and dryers, window air conditioners and air purifiers. Customers buying a heat pump water heater can save $500 at participating retailers.

“Our retail products program has grown considerably over the last few years,” said India McKnight, Sr. Program Manager, Energy Efficiency. “We started a few years ago with just light bulbs. Today, we’re offering a host of energy-efficient products. We just added night lights earlier this year.”

Oncor has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity ReStores across the DFW metro area to provide special displays on lightbulbs and more. Restores accept donations and sell new and gently used merchandise to the public. Sales help Habitat build and repair affordable homes in communities.

Other participating retailers include Dollar Tree and Goodwill and larger businesses like Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart and Costco.

In the last year, more than 300,000 customers have taken advantage of Oncor’s retail products program.

In 2022, Oncor customers purchased over 4 million LED lightbulbs, an estimated energy savings of 135 million kilowatt hours. Customers also bought nearly 3,500 smart thermostats for savings of 4 million kilowatt hours and over 5,700 advanced power strips for savings of 1 million kilowatt hours.
