DALLAS (May 26, 2025) – Oncor teams are continuing to respond to the severe storm system that began moving through our service area Sunday night. These storms have produced heavy rain, frequent lightning, and 50-60 mph winds with nearly 70 mph gusts, causing damage across a large portion of our service territory, including far North Texas, the DFW metro and the surrounding region, and southeast toward Tyler.
Oncor began monitoring and preparing for the potential arrival of this storm system last week. As soon as weather conditions allowed, Oncor teams immediately deployed to begin assessing damages, repairing equipment, and restoring power to impacted customers. Oncor’s damage evaluation process includes assessing areas of high impact to check the condition of poles, wires, transformers, and more to ensure the right teams and equipment will be assigned to each outage location.
This work also helps Oncor more accurately review and determine the estimated time for power to be restored for impacted customers. The estimated time of restoration may vary based on the extent of damage to equipment, how many specialized crews may be needed to complete repairs (for example: tree trimming, construction and lineworker teams), if there are multiple damage locations along a power line, additional weather impacts and more.
We recognize the challenges power outages bring to our customers and communities, especially during Memorial Day weekend, and restoration efforts will continue around the clock, as long as weather conditions allow.
Additional severe weather is expected across the Oncor service area later today, which may hinder restoration efforts and cause additional outages. Oncor personnel will be ready to respond to any new outages and will continue ongoing restoration efforts for as long as safely possible. Flooding may also cause delays and access challenges for our field resources.
Safety for Oncor’s customers and employees is our top priority. Anyone who sees Oncor personnel or support staff working is asked to please give them ample space to ensure their own safety and that of our workers. Customers are also urged to stay weather-aware and keep these important safety tips in mind:
We appreciate our customers’ patience as our around-the-clock restoration efforts continue. To report an outage, call 888-313-4747, text OUT to 66267, use the MyOncor app, or select “Report an Outage” located above the map.
Customers can receive updates by registering for MyOncor text alerts by texting “REG” to 66267, downloading the MyOncor App, following Oncor on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), or by calling 888-313-4747.
Please note that the total number of outages reflected on the Storm Center outage map identifies all current outages throughout our service area, including non-weather events.
