For Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (“Oncor”) to continue to provide safe and reliable electric service in the area, a new transmission line must be constructed between Oncor’s existing Riverton Switch in Reeves County and the existing Sand Lake Switch in Ward County. The Riverton Switch is located approximately three miles southeast of Orla, Texas. The Sand Lake Switch is located approximately six miles northeast of Pecos, Texas. The proposed transmission line project will be approximately 39.5 miles long and parallel an existing Oncor 345 kV transmission line within existing right-of-way, if approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (“PUCT”). The Proposed Transmission Line Project is currently planned for completion in 2026.
Voltage and Structure Type - The project includes a new double-circuit 138 kV transmission line constructed on steel monopoles.
Public Meeting – Notice of public meeting was published in the Pecos Enterprise and The Monahans News on November 21, 2024. A public meeting has been set for December 05, 2024 at Reeves County Civic Center located at 1500 South Cedar Street, Pecos, TX 79772.
Application Filing – On February 13, 2025 Oncor filed an Application at the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) under Docket No. 57633 to construct and operate the proposed project. Click here for access to the docket on the PUCT Interchange.
