Tunstill POD

As the state’s economy continues to grow, it is important to take steps to ensure that a reliable electric system is in place to support electric load growth. In particular,  West Texas is experiencing substantial electrical load growth due to increases in oil and natural gas production, mid-stream processing, other activities to support the oil and gas industry, as well as general economic and population growth needs. Oncor Electric Delivery Company (“Oncor”) continues to monitor growth and assess the need for electric facilities to provide safe and reliable service for customers across the Permian Basin and West Texas generally. In order to meet the demands of the state’s growing oil and gas industry, Oncor has proposed to construct a new electric transmission line from the existing Oncor Riverton Switching Station, located in Reeves County approximately three miles southeast of Orla, Texas, and extending to the Tunstill POD, approximately 4-5 miles north of the Riverton Switching Station, near the boundary between Reeves County and Loving County. Completion of this Oncor project will provide the infrastructure required to serve industrial electric load in the area effectively and reliably.

Voltage and Structure Type - The project is proposed to be a double-circuit capable 138 kV transmisson line constucted on steel monopoles.
