The Soy Oncor program is a special student outreach initiative that links Oncor employees to schools in the local community. Led by a team of Soy Oncor Ambassadors, the program aims to inspire students to set and pursue educational and career goals. Soy Oncor Ambassadors were nominated to share their successes and stories with young minority students across the Oncor service territory
. The initiative launched in 2012.
Soy Oncor Ambassadors are passionate about working in the community. Ambassadors regularly volunteer their time via a variety of partnerships and events including:
• Mentoring and tutoring individual students
• Adopting local schools
• Taking part in career days and speaking engagements
• Participating in events hosted by local community and civic centers or nonprofit associations
Hispanic students make up a large part of the student population in Texas and this growing segment represents our future workforce. The Soy Oncor Ambassadors seek to educate these young Texans about the exciting and diverse opportunities available to everyone as we work to meet the future energy and environmental needs of the state.
